|Early Life||Ileana D’cruz was born in Pune to a Konkani speaking Goan Catholic family who later relocated to Goa. She had a chanced upon an entry into modelling at a latter phase. She went on to appear in photos shoots and ramp shows and was called upon to appear in ad films for many famous brands which led to her film debut in 2005.|
|Personal Life||Ileana D’Cruz was reluctant to enter into movies at the beginning. It was her mother’s friend who spotted her and encouraged her to take up modelling. She was keen on stop acting in films after her first movie but was convinced by her mother to continue in the film world if opportunity arises.|
Film debut and rise to prominence (2005-2006)
IleanaD’Cruz after appearing in a failed film audition in 2005 made her film debut with the Telugu language blockbuster film Devadasu in 2006 which got her highly encouraging reviews eventually earning her a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut that year. She had her next release through the action flick Pokkiri which saw her pairing with Mahesh Babu in the lead. The smashing success of the movie got her far reaching popularity and she was seen coming up with a seasoned part overcoming up the stock nature of the character. She then went on to be a part of underperfommers like the Tamil film Kedi and Telugu outing Khatarnak.
Career leap phase ( late 2006-2008)
Ileana D’Cruz then went on to have a major upward career phase with her Telugu language movies like Rakhi , Munna and also the standout part out a girl under run in Aata all in the year 2007. She swept away much honours and Awards for her role in the Telugu action film Jalsa in 2008 which too added to her fame along with exploring some untested areas of her acting promise. She was then seen playing the lead heroine in the action film Kick where she paired with Ravi Teja. The blockbuster success of the movie made her highly popular among the masses and was a welcome change for her from usual kind of films..
Subseqqunt films ( 2012)She went on to be part of below par affairs like Shakti, Nenu Naa Rakshasi which got her critical praise from every corner. She was then roped in by showman filmmaker S. Shanker for the Tamil Language remake of the modern cult classic Three Idiots in Nanban, where she was seen reprising the character played by Kareena Kapoor in the original with actors like Vijay, Jiva and Srikanth in the lead. The movie saw her rising to the occasion delivering a degree of uniqueness to the interpretation of the nerdish doctor who falls in love with her father’s quirky over the top student. The film opened to rave reviews and collection just like its original and Ileana D’Cruz once again made a long lasting impact. She thereafterbappeared in two Telugu movies Julaiand Devudu and ChesinaManushulu, with the former being a critical and commercial success. Highly successful Bollywood entry (late 2012- 2016) Ileana D’Cruz however had a major turnaround when she was cast as one among the two female leads in Anurag Basu’s super hit romantic drama film Barfi which saw her along with Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the lead. The movie had her donning the role of a girl who leaves her true love to seek material comforts owing to her lover’s metal impairment. The Oscar nominated film too had a stellar performance from her and the character is still one of her career best till date which was unanimously praised by major critics. She was called upon by stalwart filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi for his Shahid Kapoor starrer comedy flick Phata Poster Nikhla Hero , where she was seen cracking her comic sensibilities too but to no avail although her depiction of emotions of the character got noticed in the film as well with it being a moderate outing. Ileana D’Cruz was approached by comic king David Dhawan for the romantic action comedy film Main Tera Hero which had Varun Dhawan and Nargis Fakhri doing other lead roles. The film failed to anything spectacular for her career prospects other than being a routine masala flick. She then went on to be a part of cold releases like Hindi flick Happy Ending and Kick 2 in Telugu. Ileana was last seen in a major role in Akshay Kumar’s court room drama film Rustom which had her playing a unfaithful wife whose secret relationship revelation creates one of the strangest cases the counties ever heard of. The movie had her doing her part exceptional well. Ileana’s upcoming films are Baadshaho with Ajay Devgn and the Anil Kapoor Arjun Kapoor ensemble romcom Mubarakan in 2017.
|Awards||IllenaD’Cruz has received the Filmfare Awards and nominations for : Best Female Debut for the Telegu language film Devadasu in 2007. Best Actress Nomination for the movie Devadasu in 2007. |Other works||Ileana D’Cruz in the beginning of her career as part of her modelling days went on to serve as the main model for many well-known brands like Electrolux, Emami Talc and Fair and Lovely. Ileana also appeared in Atif Aslam’s romantic music video “ Pehli Dafa” in the year 2017.|
