We welcome you all to Amitabh Bachchan’s filmy journey and today we will talk about his film, Zameer released in 1975. A Hindi drama which is produced by B.R. Chopra and was directed by his son Ravi Chopra. This was his debut as a director.

Maharaj Singh essayed by Shammi Kapoor is the proud owner of Derby winning stallions who has his passion for horse racing and lives in the palatial farmhouse with his wife Rukmini and they have a young son.
One day dacoits enter his farmhouse to steal his stallions and Maharaj Singh fights them to save his horses and ends up killing the Dacoit Leader’s son. Maan Singh the head dacoit swears to take revenge on Maharaj Singh and abducts his young son Chimpoo. While Maharaj Singh and his wife Rukmini live in anguish for losing their only son , many years later a young man named Badal essayed by Amitabh Bachchan comes into their lives. He lies to them that he is their son and they believe him. Their daughter and both Maharaj Singh and his wife are very happy. But fate plays a trick as in reality Badal is not their son,he falls in love with their daughter Sunita, (Saira Banu)due to which he confesses to the couple his true identity , that he is a convicted jailbird and not their son Badal, but he was asked to ipersonate as their son Chimpoo. By then Rukmini is ailing and is on her death bed . Maharaj does not want her to know that he is not their son as she would be heartbroken in the condition that she is. He tells Badal to continue to pretend he is her son. But does he pardon Badal or punishes him for impersonating and cheating them to believe he is their son. ? What happens to their love story , for that you have to watch the film to know the ending?
The film is based on O. Henri’s short film A Double-Dyed Deceiver and this script was earlier in the film of 1960 called the Bombai Ka Babu with Dev Anand in the lead role. It is indeed an astonishment , that in this film Saira Banu has acted as Shammi Kapoor’s daughter whereas 14 years before the release of this film, she has acted as his love angle and was seen romancing with Shammi Kapoor in the film Junglee.
The music for the
film Zameer is given by Sapan Chakraborty and the lyrics were by Sahir
Ludhianvi , Rajkavi Inderjeet Singh Tulsi . In this film Amitabh Bachchan did
not have the lead role yet the film went on to be a super hit and in the credit
score we also see Shammiji and Amitabhji
both in the lead roles.
