The Dil Dhadakne Do director Zoya Akhtar has tried to come up with different genre every time with her stories. She does things on her own willpower and pace. In a decade now in the industry, she has given four feature films, three anthologies and a web series. This is evidence that she isn’t running any race.
The talented director has featured his brother Farhan Akhtar in films like ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’. This collaboration of two has always done well for them. She said that she is willing to do a gangster film with her brother. She also shared that she is waiting for a good script. She also stated further that a gangster film is her favourite genre, but she hasn’t come across any material that she wants to tell, but she is actively looking for it because she wants to do one. She made her directorial debut in 2009 with the film Luck By Chance that won her The Best Debut Director award. Her recent film last year Gully Boy bagged the highest number of awards in 65th Filmfare award.
When asked about why we don’t see many of her movies coming often, she said “I don’t feel I need to keep having a release.” Zoya insists that she needs to get that push from within and then only she can make a film. “I have to have a story I really want to tell, and then it makes sense to put things out there. So if you see, in 2018 I did Lust stories, in 2019 – Made in heaven and Gully Boy. I really get those spurts where I get completely mad because I have those stories to tell but if I don’t have, I’m happy to kick back too”, she explained. She enjoys doing things she has not done. After completing 10 years in the industry, she really sees herself as an evolved and better filmmaker.
