Bazaar-E-Husn is based on the popular novel by Munshi Premchand, of the same title. The movie’s story predominantly revolves around a lady called Suman, played by Reshmi Ghosh who is unhappily married and experiences no love or wedded bliss. Her father, played by Om Puri is a police inspector and marries her off to the first suitor he finds appropriate for her. She spends her days sulking and in a miserable state of mind, where her husband physically and verbally abuses her for dowry.

Eventually Suman takes the path most frowned upon by the Indian society of being a courtesan. Even though it is a looked down profession for women, Suman who has gone through much worse in her life, experiences the independence and freedom of an ordinary woman who wants to be happy on her own terms.

Bazaar-E-Husn is directed by Ajay Mehra and produced by A K Mishra. The screenplay is by Dhananjay Kumar, while the story is by Munshi Premchand. The music is composed by Mohammed Zahur and Khayyam.
