Bhootnath is an emotional and a film with the humor, directed by Vivek Sharma, produced by Ravi Chopra, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Juhi Chawla, Shah Rukh Khan, Aman Siddiqui, Rajpal Yadav, Priyanshu Chatterjee. Released on the 9th of May 2008.
There is a huge bungalow in Goa called ‘Nath Villa’ where a young couple sneak in, they meet a lot of supernatural events, discover a friendly ghost. Aditya (Shah Rukh Khan) & Anjali (Juhi Chawla) shift into this villa with their young son Banku.
Aditya works as an engineer on a cruise liner so must leave, so Anjali hires Anthony (Rajpal Yadav) who is a cleaner, who is most of the time drunk. Banku comes to the kitchen to have some ice cream when he happens to meet the ghost Kailash Nath(Amitabh Bachchan), names him Bhootnath. Eventually they become friends. Kailash Nath’s son Vijay, who has neglected his father returns from the US wanting to sell the house. He sees the super natural things happening around.
Kailash Nath tells his story to Anjali & Banku. In the end Banku along with Aditya perform the last rites to give him salvation. Vijay realises his mistakes and asks for forgiveness for all that he had done and starts living here. Banku is sad as his friend is not there anymore, but while going to school the next day, parking his cycle he meets with bhootnath who tells him to keep this as a secret.
The movie is directed by Vivek Sharma and written Vivek Sharma. The music is composed by Vishal-Shekhar. The cinematography is by Vishnu Rao. The film is produced by Ravi Chopra.
