Gullu, played by Parineeti Chopra is a simple girl living in a Hyderabadi locality with her father Abdul, played by Anupam Kher. Her dream is to go to the US someday while her father dreams of finding her a suitable groom and getting her married. Abdul and Gullu agree on finding a boy who doesn’t ask for dowry as they are strictly against it.

Meanwhile Gullu falls in love with Amjad, played by Karan Wahi and decide to get married. However, his father asks for Rs 80 Lakhs in dowry and a heart broken and furious Gullu decides to slap a legal case on them and recover money which will ultimately help her go to America.

The father daughter duo later go to Lucknow for their next target. There they meet a restaurant owner Tariq. They fix the marriage and record his father asking for dowry. Few days before the wedding, Tariq gives Gullu Rs 40 Lakhs from his own savings telling her that this can be used to give his own father without anyone knowing to reduce the stress on her family. Taken aback, Gullu not only takes the Rs 40 from Tariq but also from the court by framing them.

Tariq later confronts Gullu and feeling remorseful and guilty returns his money and they fall in love and plan a real marriage minus the dowry. The movie is directed by Habib Faisal and produced by Aditya Chopra. The music is composed by Sajid-Wajid.
