Synopsis

Kailash is a widower and a conservative man, who thinks that the modern world and thinking is all corrupted. After meeting several modern girls he is utterly disgusted. He thus wants his only son Ramesh to marry a traditional Indian village girl who does not even speak English. Little does he know that Ramesh is already committed and in love with a modern educated girl named Ramola and wants to marry her. Not seeing any way out, Ramesh goes for help to his father’s friend Lalaji, who suggests that they fool his father by making Ramola look like a village girl. They execute this plan and are successful and thus they get married. Each day however, Ramola feels guilty about tricking her father-in-law and putting on a false show to be accepted. One day things take a drastic turn when Kailash falls sick and Ramola is forced to nurse him back using her doctor’s training. Kailash finally realizes that he has been fooled. Meanwhile Lalaji and Ramesh make him understand that not all modern and educated girls are bad and finally he accepts Ramola and Ramesh’s love. The film is directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and produced by Jayawant Pathare and Ashok. The music is composed by Bappi Lahiri. The star cast includes Farooque Sheikh, Deepti Naval, Utpal Dutt, Saeed Jaffrey and Devan Verma.
