The Eken Benaras e Bibhishika is a 2025 Bengali black-comedy detective action thriller directed by Joydip Mukherjee, produced by Shree Venkatesh Films and Hoichoi Studios. Adapted from Sujan Dasgupta’s novel Ideal Jewellery, the film marks the third cinematic adventure of the beloved sleuth Eken Babu, portrayed once again by Anirban Chakrabarti.
The story follows Eken Babu, along with his trusted companions Bapi (Suhotra Mukherjee) and Pramatha (Somak Ghosh), as they travel to the ancient city of Benaras. What begins as a seemingly simple investigation soon spirals into chaos when a mysterious crime involving a priceless piece of jewellery triggers a chain of dangerous, hilarious, and unpredictable events. As secrets unfold in the labyrinthine alleys of Benaras, Eken’s quirky brilliance clashes with ruthless criminals and hidden agendas.
Adding to the intrigue are powerful performances by Saswata Chatterjee, Gaurav Chakrabarty, and Ishaa Saha, who bring additional layers of tension and humour to the plot.
Announced in January 2025 and shot from March onwards, the film released on 16 May 2025, becoming a massive box-office hit. With earnings of ₹9.36 crore, it stands as the second highest-grossing Bengali film of 2025 and the most successful film in The Eken theatrical franchise.
Packed with wit, action, suspense, and the signature charm of Eken Babu, Benaras e Bibhishika delivers a thrilling and entertaining ride.
