The Legend Suheldev

The Legend of Suheldev is one of the upcoming movies of the drama genre. This new film’s story is set against the backdrop of the early eleventh century. It starts with the scenes wherein Mahmud of Ghazni and his armies start to demolish the country, including the divine Somnath Temple and Suheldev’s brother Malladev. While Suheldev, in a combination of reverence and rage, abandons his princely life. In a bold gambit, he assembles a disparate group of warriors, including the castes of outcasts, interfaith fighters, and even recalcitrant Turks, and wages a reckless guerrilla war against the invaders.

When struggling to assemble a united front, his father Mangaldhwaj appeals to the high caste kings, but finds too much caste and regional inequity to forge anything of substance. Suheldev detects an opening and aligns with a Sufi converted Turk, Aslan (later revealed to be the exiled Salar Masud) and wins loyalty by deploying respect and strategy, and placing an emphasis on the lives of men who fought beside him. Along the way, he elicits the aid of Toshani, a skilled archer, and his collective efforts to drive resistance spread across the Gangetic plains. 

By 1033, Suheldev builds a confederacy of disenchanted kings, many still hold Ghazni or remain neutral until it is almost too late. Also, he garners support from the treatment of the Chola empire from the south. The climax occurs in the Battle of Bahraich, and united Suheldev’s army of kings faces the Turkic hordes of Mahmud. on, Salar Maqsud.

In a brutal confrontation, Suheldev slays Malik Jaichand and defeats the Turks utterly; even Maqsud is captured and beheaded. The victory halts further invasions for generations, restores Somnath, and cements Suheldev’s legacy as a unifier of caste, religion, and region. The Legend of Suheldev is one of the recent movie releases that has a perfect blend of drama, action, suspense and thrill along with the historic visuals and an exceptional storyline.
