The gathering of Lagaan’s cast and crew after 25 years turned into a nostalgic celebration with old co-stars collaborating to come together to re-visit the memories for one of the most loved Indian cinemas ever.  The gathering was joined by Ashutosh Gowariker, Aamir Khan while they welcomed several members of their team.

A nostalgic reunion as the British actor Paul Blackthorne reunites with the lagaan family ahead of its anniversary.

The reunion saw several familiar faces from Champaner who have come together once again including Rajendranath Zutshi, Aditya Lakhia, Yashpal Sharma, Akhilendra Mishra, Daya Shankar Pandey, Suhasini Mulay and Paul Blackthorne. Suhasini’s daughter and Aamir Khan’s first wife Reena Dutta, and his daughter Ira Khan were also at the grand gathering.  

The event soon became the highlight online and delighted the fans across the world as the film celebrates its silver jubilee year. 

Aamir Khan Products also has shared the first glimpse from the reunion on the social media showing the star ensemble of the film reliving the old memories together. The caption read as ‘Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker reunite with the Lagaan cast after 25 years.

The major highlight of the anniversary celebrations.  

Paul Blackthorne the British actor in Lagaan has returned to India.  He is famously remembered for playing the ruthless Captain Andrew Russell in the film.  He has travelled specially to India to take part in the silver jubilee celebrations and has given the fans a look into this journey via the social media.

Paul Blackthorne is best known globally for his roles in television series like Arrow, ER and 24. The actor is genuinely thrilled to be back in Mumbai . He has been exploring the Mumbai city and its streets and has been catching up with Aamir Khan and the former co-stars of Lagaan. 

Lagaan had hit the theatres and completely broke the mold of mainstream Hindi cinema.  

The film had become a cultural phenomenon in 2001 after its release on June 15th .   Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker , it marked the debut of Aamir Khan Productions.  Aamir Khan as Bhuvan and a group of resilient villagers had won the hearts of the audience who bravely challenged their oppressive British rulers at a high-stake game of cricket , all to save their lands from the tax burdens. 

A R Rahman’s timeless soundtrack is still widely enjoyed and celebrated till date and the legendary nail-biting cricket match is a memory that has lived in the minds of the audience and fans of Indian cinema.   Lagaan had earned India and Academy Award nomination for the Best Foreign Language Film and it still stands as a monumental milestone in India cinema, being the third film from the country to ever have received this great honor. 

The film had also swept 49th National Film Awards and had won eight major awards including the prestigious Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.   

The reunion coincides with the special theatrical re-release of the classic film Lagaan from June 12th to June 14th 2026.  Audience will once again experience the film once again on the big screen after 25 years.
