At a music event in Mumbai's Chembur suburb, a Shiv Sena member abused Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam and his team. A local MLA, who is thought to be associated with Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena party, misbehaved with Nigam's manager, Saira, while the singer was performing at the festival. They ended up going on stage because the MLA's son wanted to take a picture with Sonu. After asking Sonu's manager to leave the stage, the man ended up pushing Sonu onto the backstage steps as he was getting off the stage.

Sonu's bodyguard prevented the attacker from touching the singer. The protector took the drive from the man and he fell over the steps and onto the ground underneath. The aggressive man then attempted to grab Sonu. Rabbani Khan, his friend and singer, attempted to stop the assailant once more to save Sonu. Rabbani fell seven feet off the stairs and onto the ground below when the aggressor pushed him. Fortunately, Sonu did not get hurt; however, the two men who tried to save him may have been hurt. Rabbani Khan is the son of Sonu Nigam's mentor and guru, Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, who passed away in 2021.
