The yesteryears late actor Mac Mohan is synonymous with Sholay and its epic Gabbar scenes. His daughters are now heard of carrying the Bollywood baton forward, not with acting but with writing and direction. Manjari and Vinati Makijani will be working on making India’s first feature film based on skate-boarding, which is titled ‘Desert Dolphin’.

 

Manjari is the writer-director, while Vinati is the co-writer-producer. Manjari is LA based and worked for over 12 years in the filmmaking business, wining several national and international awards. She has worked with Hollywood biggies like Christopher Nolan in Dunkirk & The Dark Knight Rises and Patty Jenkins in Wonder Woman. She has also collaborated in Bollywood projects like Wake up Sid and Saat Khoon Maaf.

 

Desert Dolphin will based on a 16 year old village girl who musters up the courage to try skate-boarding after being inspired by a graphic artist living in Los Angeles. The makers of the movie have constructed a India’s largest skate-boarding park which is 14,500 Sq.ft wide with 100 ramps in Khempur village close to Udaipur.
