Actor Omi Vaidya came into the spotlight after his impeccable and memorable performance in the Aamir Khan starrer Bollywood film 3 Idiots. The actor has since dabbled in enacting similar roles in other films and the web space. The talented artist is now making his Marathi directorial debut and states, “As an actor, I am offered limited roles because of the way I Iook or speak. But acting just gave me the shortcut to into an extremely creative world. Now as a director, I can make a movie on anything and my looks won't matter.”

 

Talking about his upcoming untitled Marathi film, Omi said, “The film is about a person in search of his connection, the language, the culture and everything around it. It resonates with my personal story and my confusion about Marathi.” On choosing Pune as the prime location of his directorial, Vaidya added, “Pune still is very much culturally Marathi, and my film is primarily a celebration of being Marathi that is why I visualised it here.” 

 

Speaking of the film’s cast that includes Abhishek Deshmukh and Parth Bhalerao, Omi said, “They do not need more than a couple of takes. They are putting so many colours and cultures through their acting.”
