Director Nila Madhab Panda who is shooting for his new project in Delhi with a story of a seven year old Pichkoo, a slum dweller , shy unlike his community people tries to find ways to change the practice. The award winning filmmaker is narrating the issue through this film portrayed by the character Pichkoo.
During the lunch break for the film unit, the director decided to give a rickshaw ride to Ranvir Shorey and Paoli Dam, the two leading stars in his film.
The director didnt have to look too much for a slum-like location he found the right location just behind the ITO building in Central Delhi. The houses are chaotic and disorganized however, the film shooting requires them to visit such areas. He says its exciting for the children who wander aimlessly in the alleys of these chawls, and are delighted to watch a film being shot in their area. Though , the crew try to avoid the attention and if anyone asks him, which film is the shooting for, he is quick to reply, ' Kuch Nahin, Doordarshan ke serial ki shooting ho rahi hai"!!
After a couple of hours of shooting, the MCD Election campaigners came and slapped posters on the walls which were also a part of the sets .. Thats because when they found out that the crew is shooting for a film they had to be here.
Nila expressed that there is a beauty to the lives of the people living in the slums or chawls . This is the place they work they live with values they have. He went on to say, ' we need to look at the slums beyond garbage shots, it has some beautiful parts too' . The director says, film shooting have to be handled with sensitivity, its their home after all and we have to ensure they dont get disturbed. Not that the residents of these slums are bothered.
