Filmmaker Mohit Suri talks about his upcoming film, ' Half Girlfriend'  and the writer Chetan Bhagat and on other topics.

Filmmaker Mohit Suri is confident of his desi stories and the films that he crafts doesn't necessarily roar but he knows it's worth and talks about his style and continues to inspire through his intense emotional dramas.

The film ' Half Girlfriend' is based on Chetan Bhagat's best seller see the lead character Madhav Jha who is headstrong essayed by actor Arjun Kapoor.

The filmmaker said he has read the writer's books and they are all best sellers and he can relate to them closely . Mohit Suri says most of the other many writers are inspired by foreign literature, so therefore their stories are not about us.   Where as Chetan Bhagat's books are based on common man's life.  You can either agree with his stories or disagree but you just cannot ignore .

Chetan Bhagat's books that were made into movies in the past  and he had suggested that he and Mohit work together.  Mohit Suri was very keen to make a film on ' Five Point Someone' but the rights have already been sold to Rajkumar Hirani.

Chetan Bhagat's books are relevant to our times . The filmmaker said he has an emotional connect with Arjun Kapoor so after he chose him for his earlier film, ' 2 states' this is the second film based on Chetan Bhagat that he has cast him for ' Half Girlfriend'.

 Arjun Kapoor who has been raised by a single mother , faced hardships , his battle to lose weight and doing things that people said he could never do, Madhav Jha's character in the book is pretty much like his.  Once incident when Arjun talked to him about his past relationships saying, ' Dude, do you see how I used to look?  Do you think I got any girls ever?   He doesn't say it with bitterness but with humour.... All these things was convincing enough to add up to who Madhav is as a character.  

Mohit Suri spoke about the female lead, Shraddha Kapoor saying he first saw her with oil in her hair and talking to bai in Marathi . He said he was impressed and said he liked people who are not Bollywoodised if there is a term like that.
