'Nepotism Rocks' Karan Johar, Saif Ali khan and Varun Dhawan take a dig at the Queen Star Kangana Ranaut at the IIFA 2017 in New York. The ceremony's hosts Karan Johar and Saif Ali Khan brought up the Kangana Ranaut- Karan Johar Nepotism controversy at the 2017 IIFA Awards on stage on Sunday in New York. The debate on nepotism in Bollywood was raked up by Kangana Ranaut when she appeared on Koffee with Karan the popular television talk show.
The dig was passed on the Queen starrer Kangana when Varun Dhawan joined them on the stage to receive the award for his best performance for his comic role in Dishoom quoting the issue of nepotism as a joke Saif Ali Khan said ' You are here in the industry because of you father director David Dhawan. 'You are here because of your Pappa' Saif Ali is said to have said with the pun intended and to that Varun Dhawan and given a befitting reply to Saif saying 'You are here because of your mummy !! ( referring to the very famous actress Sharmila Tagore) They were soon joined in this humour by Karan Johar when the trio shouted ' Nepotism Rocks' Bole Kangana from Karan Johar's film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham . However the director quickly said, ' It's better if Kangana doesn't speak ( Kangana nahi bole toh achha hai.)
The feul on nepotism was started by Kangana during her show with the actor director filmmaker Karan Johar and referred him as the flag bearer of nepotism which wasn't taken too well by Karan Johar.
Saif Ali Khan and Karan Johar are known to be the two wittiest men in Bollywood besides Shah Rukh Khan too and are extremely good orators. As hosts for the IIFA they are free to always poke some fun at the events and if you have been following the news the nepotism controversy which has been making its headlines in Bollywood news that a lot of mudslinging has been going on between Kangana Ranaut and Karan Johar on this subject.
Karan at the IIFA also passed a comment that he was in the industry because of his father the Late Yash Johar who was Bollywood's top film producer and had founded Dharma Productions. He stated Saif Ali Khan was in the industry because of his mother the very popular superstar Sharmila Tagore and Varun Dhawan was also in the industry because of his father the film producer and director David Dhawan so what was the big deal altogether ? He hilariously announced ' Down with nepotism and all this was said in a good humour to entertain at the IIFA Awards this year.
