Priyanka Chopra plans to bring forth the love story by Rabindranath Tagore in a film, ' Nalini' which she sets to produce in Bengali-Marathi , a bi-lingual film. The actress who is passionate towards cinema after producing the National Award Winning film, like ' Ventilator' is now producing a film based on the love story of the Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore and Annapurna.
Set in the backdrop of 1878 when Rabindranath Tagore was only 17 years old and staying with Dr. Atmaram Pandurang Turkhud in Mumbai. Annapurna was Dr. Atmaram's 20 year old daughter with whom Tagore lost his heart out to.
Annapurna had returned from London and had a flawless command over English language which drew Rabindranath Tagore as she tutored him for English.. While the classes went on for the English their love blossomed too and she insisted he change her name to Nalini. He wrote a dedicated poem for her and composed music for it. However their love story had a tragic end with Nalini being married off to someone else as her father did not approve of her love affair with Rabindranath Tagore.
A beautiful love story which was more platonic and will narrate finer incidents with a point of view of a young student in mind who visits Santiniketan and sees pictures of Annapurna captioned as ' Nalini' . The story is written by Sagarika , wife of the director Ujjwal Chatterjee, produced by Priyanka Chopra . The casting for this film is still in progress and the film hopes to go on the floors by October this year.
The film is expected to be dubbed in Hindi in order to reach out to the Bollywood popularity and will showcase the beautiful love story of Tagore to a larger audience.
