Trouble mounts for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati'

As Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati' approaches its release date, the trouble seems to be swelling as well. First it were the protests by the Karni Sena followed by a Brahmin group, now the former royal family of Jaipur has come in opposition of release "if historical facts are distorted".

Diya Kumari, former princess and a BJP MLA, released a statement that no film should hurt the sentiments of a community by "twisting historical facts".

In the statement, she further stated that the director of the film 'Padmavati', Sanjay Leela Bhansali should not wrongly depict the story of Queen Padmavati of Chittor. He should get the facts in the film verified by a forum of historians and then release the film. Diya Kumari further warned, " Rajputs will not allow any distortion of the valiant history of Rajasthan and sacrifice of its people in fighting barbarians."

The latest developments arrive as film distributors across Rajasthan have articulated apprehension over the release of the film scheduled to hit the cinema halls on December 1.
