story of Alaap, another great film released in 1977 in which Amitabh Bachchan
plays a pivotal role.
Alaap which means prelude, a
short piece of music as the name suggests is a story based on music. Widowed
Triloki Prasad, an advocate is essayed by Om Prkash. He is wealthy and has two
sons, Advocate Ashok (Vijay Sharma) and Alok his second son yet to settle down
essayed by Amitabh Bachchan who is yet to settle down in the family law firm.
But Alok has different plans and he enrols in classes run by Pandit Jamuna
Prasad essayed by A K Hangal. On the pretext of attending office he goes to the
slum areas and starts visiting the courtesan Sarju Baai Banarasiwali and
battling all contradictions with his respectful father and at the end forces
his father to reconsider his decisions
which were not in favour of Alok as the father and son duo continue to sort out
their differences.
Alok a gentle heart is
reaching out to homeless in the slum when they lose their possession with the
court’s decision, a case handled by his
father’s law firm. He stands up with the slum against his father and the new
property owner. Mr. Gupta essayed by Yunus Parvez. Rekha has a small role in the film. Here we end one more episode on Amitabh Bachchan’s
