Amitabh Bachchan Was Not The First Choice As Vijay Verma In ‘Deewar’, Rajesh Khanna Was The One

Getting films always had been a task of challenges for Amitabh Bachchan even after he got recognition for his outstanding performance as an angry man in Zanjeer. Amitji could get the role of the famous Vijay Verma in Deewaar when the writers Salim–Javed rejected Rajesh Khanna. Deewaar is the film that changed Hindi cinema’s fate.
Even after grabbing the film in his hands, Amitabh had many challenges coming his way to shoot the film. Shooting the scene in the temple where he challenges the gods was the toughest scene he had to shoot. Big B gave 15 retakes to shoot the final take, as he was very conscious about challenging the gods. Even his death scene in the movie had two different dialogues written and the director Yash Chopra gave him freedom to ad lib the scene as he wished. Thus Deewaar has been a special one for Big B!
