Barsaat Ki Ek Raat Featuring Amitabh Bachchan And Reekha Gulzar

Today we talk about one more film starring Amitabh Bachchan that was considered as a super hit film, a thriller starring along with him are Reekha Gulzar and Amjad Khan. This film was based on the Bengali version titled as Anusandhan and in Bengali it was one of the highest grossing films while the Hindi version did also pretty well.

The film that means ‘One Rainy Night’ is remembered for its classic songs. The plot of film is about a Police Inspector Abhijit who initially doesn’t reveal his true identity, books the smuggler and the local goon Kaaliram and gets him arrested for his all wrong doings. In the mean time Abhijit falls in love with a blind girl Rajni essayed by Rakhee, he and marries her. They live a happily married life in the small village of Sonarpur and both await the arrival of their first child, but their happiness in short lived.

Kaaliram is released from the jail and his only motive is to take revenge Abhijit essayed by Amitabh Bachchan. One day making a fake phone call , Kaaliram sends Abhijit away from home and he enters his home to molest his blind wife Rajni and in the attack that follows Rajni who is pregnant loses her child with a miscarriage. Abhijit who had hidden his true identity of being the police inspector erupts with anger and reveals his true identity drags i to put him back into the jail. However Sahuji who is Kaaliram’s father tries to save his son from being arrested and in the attempt to shoot Abhijit, he ends up shooting his son Kaali.The corrupt  police officer who had helped kaali escape or get released from the jail is suspended.

The film is very emotional with very beautiful songs, the tragic story of the blind woman losing her child in her molest and their dreams being shattered. The film ends on a happy note that  the justice prevails.
