India is a country of rich diversity and
culture which reflects in every aspect of cinema produced in the country.
People speaking multiple languages nationally has led to the development of
regional cinema in the film industry. Indian Film Industry is incomplete
without regional cinema. The Regional cinema includes films from languages
including Marathi, Bengali, Tamil,
Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Punjabi.
Regional films often don't get the recognition and attention they deserve in the media and industry. The Hindi film industry is primarily in the Indian Film Industry which affects regional films to get the limelight they are worthy of. In order to honor regional cinema Dada Saheb Phalke Film Foundation came up with an award category at their 25th award show to confer an honor toward Reginal Cinema.
Dada
Saheb Phalke Film Foundation Awards 2023 was carried out on 20th May in Mumbai.
A total of 17 awards were presented to the regional films during this reputable
award show. “Marathi, Bhojpuri, Gujarati “ language films were celebrated
during the award ceremony.
In
the Marathi film industry, Prasad Oak’s Chandramukhi won the title for best
Marathi film of the year. Whereas leads from the same film Amruta Khanvilkar and AdinathKothare bagged an award for
best actor (Male) and best actor (Female). Prasad Oak won an award for his
spectacular work as a director as well.
Moving on to the Gujarati film industry “FaktMahilao Maate" featuring Yash Soni, Deeksha Joshi, and Amitabh Bachchan
was awarded as best Gujarati film of the year> Leading Lady Deeksha Joshi
received an award for her work in the same. Director of Fakt Mahilao Maate: Jay Bodas received the trophy for best director too.
Lastly, the Bhojpuri film industry’s Aan Baan Shaan was honored as the best
Bhojpuri film of the year.
