Mehmood’s most famous film ‘Padosan’ was a comedy film. Even today when the film is played on the television, people sit to watch the film with great interest. They watch not only for his hilarious scenes but also for the greatness the film has achieved that no producer has been able to produce a film that is parallel to the film ‘ Padosan’. The film is one of the most famous comedy film by the actor Mehmood. There are two reasons why producers could not match a film like ‘Padosan’, one is the three top actors like Mehmood, Sunil Dutt and KishoreKumar were the co-stars, all great actors and the music in this film was simply the best. All the songs in this film went on to become very popular but the one song that till date makes people smile or laugh and enjoy is the song ‘Ek Chatur Nar Karke Singar’. This song is special because in the film the actor Sunil Dutt is trying to woo his lady love Saira Banu and wants to impress her with singing but when in reality he can’t sing, that’s when his friend, his buddy Kishore Kumar gives him an idea that he will sing the song for him and all he has to do the lip sync to impress Saira Banu. The film was shot so well that the audience enjoyed the song thoroughly and one could watch this scene a thousand times and till date is a popular song.
You
would be surprised to know that this song was visualized by Mehmood due to a
real life incident. It so happened that Sunil Dutt in the 60’s would go to
Ladakh in the army camp to entertain them.
With him many other stars of the film industry would accompany him so
that more actors perform to entertain the soldiers. Once Sunil Dutt got an
opportunity as he received an invitation to take Kishore Kumar to Ladakh but
Kishore Kumar refused the offer that as he expressed he is scared to sing front
of the audience, a crowd. He was somehow
convinced and he agreed to go along but he was still scared to appear in front
of the public. So was he able to sing in front of the soldiers?
To
drive away his fears of his singing in front of the soldiers, Sunil Dutt
advised Kishore Kumar to keep his photograph on the stage of and while he plays
his record, front of the audience he only does the acting with the lip sync but
when Kishore Kumar saw the kind of response his voice was getting from the
audience and how they loved his singing, his fears vanished and he came forward
on the stage and sang for them. This
situation on the stage and the performance gave Mehmood an idea to adapt the
same as a comedy scene in the film Padosan and the public simply lapped it up
with joy and the song went on to be a super hit for decades.
