Do You Know In A Romantic Bedroom Scene; An Actor Had Misbehaved With Actress Dimple Kapadia

Romantic, bold and intimate scenes are common in Hindi films and it is one of the characteristics for a love story. It is not just now but romantic scenes have been very common since the advent of silent cinema. Hindi films are known for the intimate scenes by the leading star couple on screen and due to these hot scenes the producers, director also believed the film runs.

Director Mahesh Bhatt too, once was shooting for his film Prem Dharm with Dimple Kapadia and Vinod Khanna. In the film Dimple Kapadia is Vinod Khanna’s wife and as per the scene required, he had to hug Dimple Kapadia and peck a kiss on her cheeks. The scene was a short one but Mahesh Bhatt wanted the scene to look very intimate between the married couple on the screen. Hence on the sets Mahesh Bhatt, Cameraman, Light men along with Vinod Khanna and Dimple were the only present crew for this shoot, so that the pair doesn’t feel shy or embarrassed and the shot would be taken beautifully.

As soon as Mahesh Bhatt announced the take, Vinod Khanna embraced Dimple Kapadia and started kissing her cheeks. Dimple Kapadia was furious and Mahesh Bhatt too immediately announced cut but the actor wouldn’t stop much to the embarrassment of all and especially Dimple Kapadia who felt humiliated.  Finally, Mahesh Bhatt had to call his assistant to pull away Vinod Khanna from Dimple Kapadia and let her go.

Due to this behavior by Vinod Khanna, Dimple refused to do any more love scenes with the actor. Mahesh Bhatt tried to convince the actress and also got Vinod Khanna to apologize to her.   Vinod Khanna asked Dimple for forgiveness and admitted he was ashamed at his behavior and there after the scenes were shot and the film was completed.

The film Prem Dharam of 1992 was inspired by Guru Rajneesh Ashram but the name of the film was changed to ‘Maarg’.  Besides Dimple Kapadia and Vinod Khanna, the star cast had Hema Malini and Anupam Kher as well. The film bombed at the box office and few critics of the film industry only had a good word for the film.
