years ago when Rajesh Khanna used to be the Superstar of the Hindi films

Director Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film Anand was released on 12th March 1971 and for the first time he had worked with both, one of the greatest actor Amitabh Bachchan and the Superstar Rajesh Khanna . The film had earned about 2 crore business and had broken all previous records at the box office.

like this… The day Anand was released Amitabh Bachchan was at the petrol
pump at the SV Road Irla Street, getting the petrol filled in his car.
At that time very few had taken note of him at the petrol pump. But
after few hours he went back to the same petrol pump to refill his car,
he found that he was being recognized and noticed by many more. More and
more people were watching him.
In this film he had essayed a role of Dr. Bhaskar who is treating Rajesh Khanna a cancer patient Anand. The songs by Gulzar in the film were emotional as well a melodious . Dialogues were simply superb especially , ‘Ye Babumoshai, zindagi aur maut uperwale ke haath mein hai, use, na aap badal sakte hai aur na mein’ this dialogue till date is much remembered by the audience and fans of Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan.
The 1971 film received the National Award for the best film and in
1972 the film also won the Best actor , Best Supporting Actor and Best
Dialogue and the Best supporting actor was awarded to Amitabh Bachchan.
From then on there was no looking back for Amitabh Bachchan as he rose
to his fame.
