Posters Of Iconic Ray Films Will Be Displayed At The 53rd International Film Festival Of India (IFFI)
The National Film Development Corporation
(NFDC) has organized an online film poster design based on the iconic films
directed by film maker Satyajit Ray. The selected 75 posters will be chosen by
the jury. The Jury included the well known names
from the field of art and culture, like the veteran Shyam Benegal, muralist
Anjolie Ela Menon, veteran artist and film designer for animation films, Dhimat
Vyas, Radha Binod an artist who evaluated the posters and are now exhibited at
the 53rd IFFI Festival to be held in
Goa from November
20th to 28th 2022.
NFDC were
overwhelmed with the response received from 635 entrants who had submitted
their applications. A souvenir displayed
the top three winners out of the 75 posters selected. It wasn’t an easy task for the jury to select
the best 75 but it is definitely a great initiative to celebrate Ray’s works
through these posters.
Filmmaker
Satyajit Ray was known for designing more than one poster for each of his films
that captured the mood of the film. For example, his film ‘Devi’ represented
the split personality, while another poster by Charulata depicted brushstrokes
of a woman’s face. As the contest is
in honor of the famous film maker, there has been a considerable work put in by
all the entrants. Film maker Shyam
Benegal expressed that the contest truly honored the great film maker’s legacy
both for his films as well as his choice of graphic designs for all his film
posters.
Minister of
Information and Broadcasting expressed his congratulatory message to the three
winners whose posters were selected. He said the posters were very methodical
with their imagination for the One & Only Ray Contest.
The 53rd
IFFI is also set to bring about a whole lot of new experience to the movie
lovers across the world. Ravinder Bhakar, the Managing Director of NFDC India
stated that the contest was held to create professions in the field of art,
visual communication, illustrative skills and graphic designing.
