What Makes Just A “Somebody” A STAR?

As knows by many that before joining the film industry, the mega star Amitabh Bachchan was rejected by many for his height and his voice. But, do you know what actually made him a star and how he could enter the industry?

 

While in college, he played many roles on stage and had a great attentiveness towards acting. Further he used to act at the on stage at the Amateurs Club and Dramatic Club. He was a fan of great artists and would sneak into the shows of them like Bismillah Khan and many others. Amitabh had spent time in such shows till 6 in the morning and travelled in tram or pedal hopping.

 

His brither Ajitabh Bachchan used to work at Shaw Wallace during those days. One day he took some pictures of Big B when he was acting outside the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata and sent them Filmfare Madhuri Talent Contest. He was rejected there too. Once, Amitabh’s mother asked her friend and the famous film actress Nargis to arrange his screen test with actor Mohan Saigal. He never got results. Meanwhile, he never got disheartened or lost hope. He kept rehearsing as an actor. Once, Ajitabh’s friend Nina Singh told him that the director K.A Abbas was looking for a new face for his film Saat Hindustani. This happened in 1969. Bachchan went for the screen test and ausitions and passed the first hurdle. He thus, got his first break to Bollywood as one of the seven leads in the movie. He gives the credits to his family support and the way he never gave up on acting even after many rejections.
