“Aayutha Ezhuthu” (2004) A political action film by Mani Ratnam, “Aayutha Ezhuthu” stars Suriya, R. Madhavan, Siddharth, Trisha, Esha Deol, and Meera Jasmine. It follows Michael as he opposes the intervention of Selvanayagam, a politician, in the college elections. Later, this sows discord among them and compels Michael to go into politics.

The movie opens with Inbasekar gunning down Michael “Mike” Vasanth, causing Michael to fall into the drink, as seen by Arjun Balakrishnan. null Output: Michael, a charismatic student agitator, finds himself pitted against corrupt politicians such as Selvanayagam and falls in love with his apartment’s resident, Geetha. Selvanayagam early on attempts to buy off Michael with a scholarship, but it doesn’t work. Following a confrontation with Inbasekar, Michael is gunned down in broad daylight while riding his bicycle. Badly wounded, he is rescued from the Union by Meera and Arjun, who take him to major hospitals before the enemy’s hands reach him.

In the process, conflict causes Michael to suffer a grave injury, and while he ruthlessly recovers, Arjun finds himself filling the seat, rising to power amidst a sinister wave of gentrification. When he finds out about Selvanayagam’s betrayal, Inbasekar kills Guna to tie up loose ends. Inba tries to prematurely kidnap Arjun and his friends, but they barely escape thanks to Dilli, who gets murdered by Inba shortly afterwards. During a climactic battle at Napier Bridge, Michael rescues Arjun and turns Inbasekar over to the authorities. In the end, Michael, Arjun, and their buddies succeed in getting elected.

“Aayutha Ezhuthu” is a provocative examination of youth, politics, and power told through the intersecting lives. When student leader Michael stands up to the mobster politician Selvanayagam, a hail of bullets surprises Michael and his friends. When a failed assassination attempt brings together three men’s paths, war flashbacks make us question their connections and motives.
