Ace (2025) is a comedy crime thriller by director Arumuga Kumar. The film features Vijay Sethupathi, Rukmini Vasanth, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Yogi Babu and Divya Pillai. Kannan, a mysterious man on the run, teams up with Arivu and Rukku to fight corruption and get justice back from the heartless Rajadurai and loan shark Dharma. Together, they battle for survival and freedom while avoiding danger and betrayal.

Kannan has a past as "Bolt," who comes to Malaysia, and he looks to escape his dark history. To impress his girlfriend Kalpana, he befriends Arivu and a poor ragpicker who, unbeknownst to Kannan, pretends to a rich to make Kannan look like a foreigner having the time of his life. Ultimately, Kannan meets Rukku, the strong female attempting to get back her ancestral property from her abusive stepfather Rajadurai, who, as a corrupt police officer, is abusing Preethi, too. Kannan and Rukku fall for each other. To give Rajadurai his rightful due for acceptance of the property, Kannan tries to talk to the equally abusive loan shark Dharma, but instead, he fights him and ends up in a monetary debt.

Now Kannan has a problem; to solve it, he robs an armoured truck transporting cash and simultaneously wins the lottery. However, Rajadurai finds out that Kannan is the one who got him the money and tries to rob him and take Rukku for his own. Kannan, Arivu, Kalpana, and Rukku join forces against Rajadurai and Dharma; in the end, they both die, and the police think Kannan is dead, too, in a freak accident. Kannan, Arivu, Kalpana and Rukku keep half the money, use the rest to start a new life, and celebrate goodness. When Arivu questions Kannan about identity, Kannan only smiles.

Ace weaves comedy, crime and suspense captivatingly. While thematic elements reflect upon darkness, the ability to balance oddity with warm-hearted surprises keeps the film unexpectedly well-tempered. Characters charm through their chemistry, thanks to witty writing and an overall graceful design of works. Ace is a bold, fun film from beginning to end, despite some choppy pacing and densely plotted attributes.
