Adutha Saattai" is an action drama from 2019, and it is written and directed by M. Anbazhagan. It is the sequel of Saattai (2012) and is the third in the Saattai series. Samuthirakani and Thambi Ramaiah feature as the lead actors, along with Athulya Ravi, Kaushik Sundaram and Yuvan in secondary roles.
"Dayalan" (Samuthirakani) is a Tamil lecturer in a private arts and science college. He is liked by students for his warm and encouraging nature, but most of his colleagues, including the principal "Singaperumal" (Thambi Ramaiah), are not fond of him. The college is split by two prominent caste groups, which results in constant clashes. "Pazhanimuthu", the son of the principal, secretly loves his classmate "Podhumponnu", but she has a good impression of "Aadhi" (Kaushik Sundaram), a poor but diligent student.
Deciding to bring about change, Dayalan encourages students to unite and launches a "Student's Parliament", in which students are responsible for college upkeep. Though Singaperumal and others are against the concept, the media supports it, giving the college a positive image. Dayalan also conducts campus interviews, providing employment to students from lower-income backgrounds. His initiative pays off, and other colleges follow his example.
Aadhi is offered a job, which brings relief to his poor family. But Singaperumal, again opposed to Dayalan's reforms, insults Aadhi at school. Angry, Pazhani also walks out in sympathy with Aadhi. While they are driven away on a motorcycle, they have a fatal accident Aadhi is killed and Pazhani is left seriously injured. Singaperumal is overcome with guilt and emotional rebirth.
Word spreads that Aadhi died, and leaders of his caste go to the college and attempt to utilize the opportunity to serve their agendas. Dayalan discreetly makes an audio record of what transpires and is able to disclose the leaders' intention, sensitizing students against caste politics. Students mobilize themselves and disperse the caste leaders, ascertaining education surpasses discriminating elements.
In the end, Singaperumal apologizes, takes responsibility for Aadhi’s death and promises to support Aadhi’s family through Pazhani. The film delivers a strong message about unity, education and breaking caste barriers in society.
