"Akku" is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language horror and crime thriller film directed by Stalin V and produced by Pon. Selvaraj. The film stars Prajin and Gayatri Rema in main roles, joined by Paruthiveeran Venkatesh, Stalin V, and Ramanathan Narayanan. Using the setting of the film world, Akku blends psychological drama, horror, and suspense into a thrilling murder investigation.

The film opens with the cold-blooded murder of "Swetha", who is a hopeful actress, her body being discovered in the office of illustrious director "Rudran". As the police begin their inquiry, Rudran and his four assistants turn out to be missing, suspecting him to be the murderer. At the same time, "Harish", who is a film editor and the boyfriend of Swetha, sets out to investigate things himself. But when the suspects begin to get killed one by one, suspicion rises on Harish, who has to flee the police and get to the bottom of the mystery.

As the investigation deepens, the film introduces jaw-dropping plot turns involving paranormal elements, mental illness, and supernatural revenge. The threatening presence of a mysterious being and the jaw-dropping shocks propel Harish into a terrifying countdown. With each turn, the mystery darkens, culminating in a spooky climax that guarantees a sequel.

Although "Akku" tries a new wave by fusing crime, horror, and psychological thriller plot elements, it fails to keep the flow of the story consistent. The screenplay makes it difficult to merge the different themes seamlessly. However, the film is unique in the way it tries revenge, even on the benevolent culprits. Despite its flaws, "Akku" has a gripping plot with twists, and as such, is a decent thriller for the genre's enthusiasts.
