“Anjaneya” (2003), by director N. Maharajan, is an action film. It stars Ajith Kumar, Meera Jasmine, and Raghuvaran. It follows a DCP officer named Paramaguru who goes undercover to catch the mafia with the evidence against him. In the process, he seeks the help of his friends and the woman with whom he eventually falls in love.
Paramaguru is a sharp and fearless police officer whose reputation for pursuing the most hardened criminals is almost palpable. Hell-bent on bringing down the criminal underbelly from the inside, he takes on the identity of a criminal, ultimately penetrating the criminal mob culture and underbelly to get to those that pose the most harm to society. It’s his intelligence and bravery that enables him to acquire the most critical information, all while maintaining his cover as an Assistant Commissioner of Police.
When the criminals learn Paramaguru’s true identity, they band together in a frantic effort to kill him. What ensues is a thrilling battle between order and disorder, replete with tension-riddled action, noise, and fury. Amidst the violence and bloodshed, Divya, a fearless woman who challenges his ideology, ultimately joins his movement, igniting a passionate romance that brings emotional complexity to his battle for justice.
