“Appu VI Std Story” is a Tamil drama action film with Vaseekaran Balaji as the director, and the lead roles performed by Kalloori Vinoth and Priyadarshini. The film discusses the power of education and the sorrow of those who try to overcome a harsh reality.
It happens in the setting of the Chennai Housing Board with the character “Appu” (played by Jeevan) who is a 10-year-old boy and would want to fulfill his late dad's wish; which is that he study hard and do better to secure a future that is different. His dad sends him to a private school though they suffer financially, with the belief that only education is going to improve their lives. But fate strikes when Appu's father is involved in a road accident and passes away, leaving the family in a precarious situation. With no support, Appu's education is at stake, and his future is bleak.
Meanwhile, “Vinod” (Kalloori Vinoth), a boy from the same area, turns to crime due to bad luck. He was an ordinary man earlier, but he turns into a well-known rowdy and gets his name in the police encounter list. His life goes further awry after the death of his wife, whom he had married for love. The police, led by the Commissioner of Police, finally decide to trace him.
While Appu struggles at school in defiance of adversity, Vinod fights for life with the authorities in pursuit. Both their lives cross each other in a thrilling confrontation.
The movie conveys a very powerful message about how important education is and not allowing difficulties to arise in the face of knowledge gain. Director Vaseekaran Balaji positions himself in an area where he emphasizes that any amount of tough living is incapable of succeeding in getting an education.
