Synopsis

"Bairavaa" (2017) is an action drama film penned and directed by Bharathan and features Vijay, Keerthy Suresh, and Jagapathi Babu in the lead. The narrative is about Bairavaa, a fearless collector who faces an invincible criminal concealed behind a decent educationist's mask. Bairavaa (Vijay) works as a collections agent in Chennai and is notorious for taking extreme steps. Bairavaa catches sight of Malarvizhi (Keerthy Suresh) who is a medical student at a wedding function and falls head over heels in love with her. But he learns she is in trouble due to goons hired by a rich man called PK (Jagapathi Babu). Malar reveals her history: her college, headed by PK, is corrupt. When her friend Vaishali reveals the corruption, she is murdered. Malar's dad, a policeman, is also murdered by PK when he was investigating the case. Having no place to go, Malar lodges a complaint against PK, but he uses his power to harass her further. Bairavaa, inspired by her bravery, intervenes. He poses as an income tax officer and starts amassing evidence against PK at the risk of his life to rescue Malar and punish Vaishali. Bairavaa fights PK's goons, dodges attempts on his life, and even tricks PK's own henchmen into turncoat activities to betray him. He later traps PK in a false political scam, and a nationwide manhunt is initiated. Bairavaa disguises himself as a commando and finally defeats PK. The court decides in favour of Malar, closing the corrupt college and shifting its students. Bairavaa stresses the need for clean education at a press conference and sees justice served for the culprits. "Bairavaa" serves up a mix of mass action, emotion, and a social message. Vijay is an unflinching hero who takes up the cause of justice, and Keerthy provides the emotional depth to the narrative. The highlight of the movie is its message against corruption in education. It's a good entertainer for action buffs and Vijay fans thanks to punchy dialogues and high-speed sequences.
