Batsorik is a 2025 Bengali psychological horror-drama written and directed by Mainak Bhaumik, starring Ritabhari Chakraborty, Joydeep Kundu, and Ishan Mazumder.

Set in a quiet ancestral home steeped in memories and loss, the film follows a young widow (Ritabhari Chakraborty) who prepares for the batsorik — the first death anniversary of her husband. Tensions rise when her superstitious sister-in-law (played by Joydeep Kundu) arrives, convinced that the house is cursed and that her brother’s spirit still lingers within its walls.

As mysterious occurrences begin to disrupt the household — flickering lights, eerie whispers, and inexplicable shadows — grief gives way to paranoia. The line between mourning and madness blurs, forcing both women to confront buried secrets and unresolved guilt.

Through its chilling atmosphere and emotional depth, Batsorik explores how trauma and belief intertwine, questioning whether the haunting lies in the supernatural — or within the human heart itself.
