Bhogee (2025) by director Vijayasekaran S. is a drama film. It features Nabi Nanthi, Sharath, Swastika Vijay, Vela Ramamurthy and Poonam Kaur. The film is about Alaghar, a determined young man from a hill village, and his sister Kavitha, who earns a medical seat through sheer hard work. A tragedy shatters their dreams, making Alaghar lose nothing of that fight against harsh urban realities that are the main theme of his community.
Alaghar is a young man who lives in a small mountain village far from civilisation. His sister Kavitha, along with her hard-working hands, walks not least the whole school distance to study. The completeness of her proposition becomes evident when she obtains a seat in a medical college in the city, thus providing fuel to the fire of hope that had been burning in the whole village. Everyone is proud and dreams that Kavitha will come back as a doctor to help their community. But, after the unexpected death of Kavitha, which occurred immediately after her moving to the city, everything changed.
The loss of his sister now boundlessly hurts Alaghar, but he must also face the realisation of the harsh realities rural youth face. The difficulties of fitting in with the fast-paced urban world and the injustices they suffer. Alaghar is determined to fulfil his sister's dream and to that end, he sets to work transforming their village, particularly in the areas of education and opportunity. The film finishes with a positive message, stating that even in great adversity, through bravery and faith in one's ambition, it becomes possible to bring about a change and brighten the destiny of the forgotten places.
Bhogee, out on August 1, is a deeply emotional drama about the difficulties of rural families pursuing their dreams in a world that only favours the rich and the powerful. These qualities have caused the audience to praise it emotionally, the realistic storytelling, and the actors' strong performances, particularly from Nabi Nanthi and Swasika Vijay. The film doesn't have big, dramatic parts, but rather it slowly portrays the pain of a family that is at the top of the world, and they are being incited to break through. It's a strong reminder of how far some must go, just for a chance.
