“Bloody Beggar” is a 2024 black comedy film written and directed by Sivabalan Muthukumar and produced by Nelson Dilipkumar under Filament Pictures. The movie features Kavin, Radha Ravi, and Redin Kingsley in leading roles.
The tale starts with four merciless siblings brutally killing their cousin on the pretext of throwing him a birthday party. The focus next turns to “Kavin”, a slack but streetwise beggar, who earns his living by swindling individuals with fake disabilities for sympathy and money. He lives in a run-down house with a boy, Jack, who helps him with his deceptions.
Kavin once steals into a wealthy actor's funeral banquet to obtain free meals. While wandering inside the mansion, he is locked in. In the meantime, the late actor's kids arrive for the reading of the will, hoping to inherit the fortune. But to their surprise, most of the estate is bequeathed to his illegitimate son, who has never been seen before. An eye to the prospect, a tainted lawyer, conspiring with one of the brothers to appropriate the wealth, dupes Kavin into impersonating the missing heir.
Kavin plays along, indulging in the pleasures of his new status. But when greedy relatives begin to conspire against him, he realizes he is in deep trouble. With his cunning and survival skills, he must outwit their traps and also learn horrifying secrets about his past. The truth that surfaces upends everything, leading to a darkly comical twist of a climax.
“Bloody Beggar” weaves together dark humor, satire, and suspenseful twists to produce an offbeat cinematic experience. “Kavin” is simply brilliant as he plays both comedy and drama with ease. The crisp script of the film, its sudden twist, and its quirky characters are enough to hook the audience right from the beginning till the very end. Good storytelling and a suspenseful climax make Bloody Beggar a must-watch black comedy that leaves its mark.
