Chennai City Gangsters

Chennai City Gangsters (2025), directed by Arun Keshav, is a comedy caper film. The film features Vaibhav, Athulya Ravi, Anandaraj and Rajendran. The film centres on Paandi and Poochi, two petty thieves who get entangled in a fake robbery gone wrong, leading them on a wild chase involving corrupt cops, gangsters, and lost loot. With the help of four quirky retired criminals, they plan a bank heist to recover stolen money, only to be outwitted by fate, a ragpicker, and a sudden twist that leaves them empty-handed but undefeated.

Paandi and Poochi are small-time thieves raised by Pasupathy, a former criminal who now owns a pizza shop. When Psycho Salim, a retired gangster, plans a fake robbery to claim ₹2 crore in insurance, he involves Pasupathy, who sends Paandi and Poochi to do the job. They mess up and beat a police officer, Inspector Aabathu, by mistake. They later succeed with the robbery but lose the stolen money when Paandi accidentally gives the wrong bag to a ragpicker. Paandi and Poochi team up with four quirky, retired gangsters with disabilities to recover the money. The group plans to rob the WOW Bank, digging a tunnel from a pizza shop run by Jenny, Pasupathy’s daughter, whom Paandi secretly loves.

At the same time, Aabathu is cooking up a fake robbery to get back a scandalous pen drive stashed in the same bank. The team breaks in, gets their bag back and accidentally grabs the minister’s pen drive too. They get away through the tunnel, but the video on the drive gets out, which ruins the minister. Psycho Salim nabs Pasupathy, but Paandi and Poochi rescue him with the money they got back. Just when they're celebrating, the news says the money is now worthless. To make things even worse, the same ragpicker snatches their last hope, the ransom jewels.

Chennai City Gangsters is total fun, with laughs from beginning to end. It’s got crazy twists, weird characters and smart chaos. Turning a crime story into a complete laugh riot. The movie is great because of its funny lines, quick pace and the appeal of its oddball group of criminals. It’s a feel-good movie that keeps you smiling even after it’s over because of its humour and craziness.
