“DD Returns” (2023) is a Indian Tamil-language comedy horror movie directed by newcomer S. Prem Anand and produced by C. Ramesh Kumar under the banner of RK Entertainment. Santhanam and Surbhi play the lead roles in the movie, which is a stand-alone sequel to Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 and is the third film in the series Dhilluku Dhuddu.

The story begins with a group of friends who steal a bag full of money and jewels. Due to fear of being caught by the police, they hide the bag in an abandoned, old bungalow. Unaware to them, the bungalow is possessed by killing spirits who previously ran a game called Win or Run. This was not an ordinary game since any participant who lost a round would be brutally murdered. The spirits are the leftovers of a cursed family who were previously punished by villagers for their sadistic games. Now, their souls keep up the fatal competition within an old French-style palace.

“Sathish” (Santhanam), a dynamic and resourceful event manager, becomes entangled in a problem while attempting to rescue his girlfriend (Surbhi) from a financial meltdown. He unwittingly uses the same stolen money that was concealed in the haunted palace. Things go haywire when the owner of the money, a wealthy businessman, comes after them. In an attempt to escape both the businessman and the police, Sathish and his gang head back to the palace to reclaim the money, only to be caught by the ghosts.

They are now compelled to play the ghostly game of Win or Run, where every test is life-threatening. Will Sathish and the team survive unharmed the awful tests and escape alive?

"DD Returns" blends horror and comedy so that one cracks up and giggles throughout. Although the plot turns in predictable directions, Santhanam's timing and the out-of-the-box setup of the film make it a funny and engaging read for fans of the genre.
