“Doodi” is a Tamil-language romantic drama film released in 2022, directed by Karthik Madhusudhan, starring Shritha Sivadas and Edwin Raj, and playing the lead himself. The film is produced by Connection Dots Productions. In modern India, the film depicts a free-minded musician whose independent life is interrupted when he gets unexpectedly involved with love.

“Karthik,” a die-hard guitarist, leads a crazy life with late nights, loud music, and bad habits. He is employed at a club and does not believe in love or long-term relationships. All this changes when he goes to Bangalore for a friend's wedding. There, he meets “Shritha,” a quiet and reflective woman from Chennai. Karthik is immediately attracted to her and falls in love and confesses his love openly.

Shritha, however, declines his proposal. After a few days of persistence, she finally opens up about her past: she is in a five-year committed relationship and already engaged. The news comes as a shock to Karthik, but they share a warm goodbye. Shritha cannot stop thinking about Karthik even after the encounter is over. She is still perplexed and upset and feels that maybe she too has fallen in love with him.

Subsequently, Shritha speaks to her father about her predicament and tells him that she does not wish to marry her fiancé anymore. Her father dares her to invite Karthik back home if she wants to transform her life. The story ends with a question: will Shritha opt for the man she was in love with for five years or the one who impressed her in seven days?

The film walks a thin line between love and infatuation, attempting to depict the emotional confusion which many adolescents go through. The message comes through, perhaps unsteady as it is. Nevertheless, "Doodi" conveys a realistic description of love in today's times with an emotionally universal basis.
