Doosra is one of the upcoming movies of the sports-drama genre. This new film’s story takes place in the late 90s and 2002, and has a unique dual-looking story. It portrays how a nation’s emergence of confidence through a sport, matches alongside a young girl from Jodhpur’s emergence of independence.

At the national level, the message returns to the momentous NatWest Final in 2002 where India’s captain Sourav Ganguly spoiled the colonial mindset by waving his shirt at the Lord’s. It became an attitudinal embrace to foreign perceptions of India, as this was the symbolic of a new bold, and intolerant India that was increasing confidence in the country and was discarding old manifestations of the inferiority complex.

In the plot’s backdrop, we follow a young girl named Tara who comes from an orthodox household and is constrained by the oppressive social restrictions. India’s success gave Tara courage to believe in herself and immediately change her individual circumstances. Tara’s story gradually finds awakening, resilience, and bolstering the romantic belief that like her country, she deserves a ‘doosra’ as well. The narrative invokes a combination of archival match footage, commentary and expert-oriented interviews, as well as feature length film. Moreover, the commentary is derived from the various cricket articulations to reflections from the celebrities such as Harsh Bhogle and Shashi Tharoor.

Moreover, the film positions the 2002 victory as more than sport, it becomes an emotional turning point for millions of cricket enthusiasts. Meanwhile, Tara’s rebellion takes shape in her assertion of identity, by questioning tradition, pursuing education, and embracing self-expression. Doosra is one of the upcoming movie releases of the  docu fiction genre that captures cricket’s transformative power, celebrating a nation’s emotional freedom and a girl’s journey to claim her own ‘other one’, a life beyond imposed boundaries.
