"Draupathi" is an action drama Tamil film released in 2020. It's a movie written, directed, and produced by Mohan G. Kshatriya. It's based on real-life inspiration. Richard Rishi plays the character of Rudra Prabhakaran, while Sheela Rajkumar and Karunas play Draupathi and Advocate Guruthevan. It's a movie based on sham weddings, social reformation, and justice fought by one.
"Draupathi" is a very courageous and intrepid village-level social activist who accompanies her husband "Rudra Prabhakaran" to expose an array of runaway lawyers who exploit illegal marriages. These lawyers use legal loopholes to forge certificates of marriage and trap innocent persons into fake unions for their economic benefits. Making a promise to put an end to the injustice, Draupathi and Rudra begin amassing evidence against them.
But when "Draupathi" is found dead, Rudra is accused of killing her as an honor killing and is arrested and sent to jail as society turns against him. When he is released on bail, he seeks revenge and walks the path of violence.
Rudra starts killing citizens randomly, and the officials start wondering what is going on: who is all this lot, and how are they related to killing Draupathi? When there starts appearing truth, it comes up with the revelation that Rudra does not kill in revenge for killing his wife only but on a different level for the assassination of his wife because of the magnitude of corruption that is happening.
"Draupathi", which was released during great controversy due to the sensitive issue, received divided reviews from the critics. It was, however, appreciated for its daring story and gritty action scenes. Draupathi is currently streaming on Zee5, a movie that will appeal to audiences who watch gritty dramas based on real-life stories.
