Synopsis

Emakku Thozhil Romance, directed by Balaji Kesavan, is a romantic comedy film. Ashok Selvan, Avantika Perumal, Urvashi, Azhagam Perumal and M. S. Bahaskar. The film is about Umashankar, an aspiring filmmaker, whose love life spirals into chaos after a series of misunderstandings involving his friend Sharanya’s secret pregnancy and a staged impersonation. The story develops into a touching tale of friendship, love, and second chances as Leona, a nurse he falls for, works through the turmoil brought on by Umashankar's well-intentioned lies. Umashankar works as an assistant director along with his friends Senthil and Sharanya. The encounter with Leona, a nurse, after a failed movie transforms Umashankar's life. He instantly falls in love and proposes, but she rejects him. However, when Leona decides to stay in town instead of moving to Delhi, it seems she has feelings for him too. Meanwhile, Sharanya is pregnant from her relationship with Prashanth, who has now moved to America. When Umashankar helps her visit the hospital, the staff mistakenly assumes he is the father. This news reaches Leona, who becomes upset. To fix things, Sharanya brings in Vetri, a struggling actor, to pretend he is Prashanth. The plan works, and Leona forgives Umashankar. Later, during Umashankar’s sister’s wedding, Vetri’s real fiancée, her family arrive, expose the lie and causes more confusion. Leona leaves, hurt once again. Umashankar’s father later explains everything to her, helping her understand the truth. At the same time, Umashankar’s family mistakenly thinks he loves nurse Kavya. They fake a heart attack to get him to agree to marry her. As Umashankar agrees to honour his mother’s wish, Leona realises she truly loves him. She rushes to him and kisses him. Finally, she expresses her love and ends the story on a happy note. Emakku Thozhil Romance is a lighthearted film that explores the funny, messy, and often touching journey of falling in love amid confusion and chaos. It is a good movie with a beautiful tone and poignant scenes. That makes you feel the same way about relationships, trust, and second chances. There is a healthy mix of comedy and sentimentality that allows the audience to empathise with the characters as they fall in love, while making imperfect, but genuine attempts to achieve happiness.
