"Madan Dakshina Murthy", a former footballer, injures his leg severely and is forced to end his playing days. Though he may not play, his love for the game does not fade away. He becomes a coach to poor children of Kuppam, a small town where the children of daily wage earners reside. Though poor in resources, he trains the boys with love and devotion for the game.
Among the team members is "Sarath", a young and talented player who becomes distracted and falls for a girl called Aira. His love life starts to come before football much to the coach's worry. But with the passage of time, Sarath and his colleagues begin to show great improvement. Their commitment becomes a point of interest for the football selection panel, and a few players are shortlisted for greater things.
But their journey is not smooth. Their system is biased with corruption and class discrimination. A few of their local enemies, intimidated by their growing talent, attempt to bring them down and shatter their dreams.The film builds suspense on whether these boys are successful in breaking social pressure and injustice to claim their rightful place in the footballing world.
"En 6 Vaathiyaar Kaalpanthatta Kuzhu" shines in its real storytelling. The film talks about real issues of the poor in sports, but also glorifies mentorship, teamwork, and perseverance. Even though it is predictable at some points, it conveys a sincere and motivating message.
