Irfan Ahmed, an IIT Madras grad, lives in Chennai with his mom, Praveena Begum, who's a Sub-Inspector. He's dating Archana, a Ph.D. student, and is friends with Prathana, a junior lawyer. Despite his skills, Irfan finds it hard to get work because of his religion. Annoyed, he starts working at a perfume business owned by Perumal and his son, Karthikeyan. On his way back from Hyderabad, he loses his phone and jokingly makes a bomb threat at the airport. Then, a real bomb goes off, and Irfan’s phone is found at the scene, making him the main suspect.
The media labels him a terrorist, Abu Bakkar Abdullah and the NIA harshly questions him. Prathana defends him, but his mother dies from the shame. Distraught, Irfan escapes and is tricked into creating sarin gas. It turns out the real Abu Bakkar is Karthikeyan. During a fight, Abu Bakkar double-crosses Irfan, but Irfan retaliates. The twist: Irfan is Faizal Ibrahim Raiz, an undercover NIA agent. Abu Bakkar dies, the factory is destroyed and Faizal secretly moves on.
