Ganwaar(illiterate) is directed – produced by Naresh kumar starring Rajendra Kumar, Vyjantimala, Jeevan and Pran and released in 1970.

Raja Sahib is a pious and a kind hearted man . After the death of his wife he sends his only son Gopal(Rajendra Kumar) to London for higher studies.

Raja Sahib marries a young girl . She hands over his property/ land to her wicked brother Vijay Bahadur(Pran) to take care of its management.   He with his new power in hand terrorises the farmers and people around him.  Paro(Vyjantimala) comes to stay in the village and raises her voice against the terrorism by Vijay Bahadur.  In the mean time Gopal has returned from his higher studies with new ideas to improve upon their land and property and is shocked as his father as the landlord had always maintained peace and harmony among the farmers and the villagers.

When Gopal tries to intervene his step mother   an objection so he leaves the village and returns in a disguise of Garibdas to expose Vijay Bahadur and his plans.  Vijay Bahadur has set fire to the crops of the farmers during the harvest leading to a famine in the village without a single morsel of rice for the village.  Vijay Bahadur being very cunning lets Garibdas believe that it is someone else who has set fire to the crops and gets him murder the man .  In the court when it is revealed, Gopal explains his role as Garibdas to save his property, land and the farmer’s land to bring back the harmony and peace.   He reveals he is one person with two faces to save the situation.
