Genie

Genie is a forthcoming Indian Tamil-language fantasy comedy film written and directed by first-time filmmaker Arjunan Jr. The film is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under the banner of Vels Films International. It is a fun take on a magical adventure film. Genie features Ravi Mohan, playing a challenging dual role, with featured actors Krithi Shetty, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Wamiqa Gabbi co-starring.

The story revolves around Faizal - an average man living an uncomplicated life, whose life is turned upside down when he accidentally becomes the host of a magical, mischievous genie. While Faizal is unable to break the magical laws binding him to the genie, he learns that he is entitled to three wishes. Yet, with each of these wishes comes the various blows of fate, including unintended and humorous consequences. As Faizal tries to balance the chaos that the genie has unleashed in his life and his personal life, he journeys through a series of laugh-out-loud magical events, while learning some important life lessons and gathering his wits. The film articulates how Faizal manoeuvres through magical blunders and learns how to use his granted wishes wisely.

Ravi Mohan skilfully plays Faizal and the Genie character, demonstrating his ability to effectively switch between comedic and magical character shifts. Krithi Shetty, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Wamiqa Gabbi all have nice, significant roles that complement Faizal's journey. They all add their level of charm and depth. Devayani, as a supporting actor, does an excellent job of bringing emotional weight and maturity and makes the story even more compelling by adding some touching moments that ground the fantasy story elements.

Genie, planned for release on September 30, 2025, is bound to be a fun watch for all audiences who find it enjoyable to watch fantasy-based based humorous feature films.
