"Ghost" is a 2023 action heist thriller in Kannada by M. G. Srinivas, produced by Sandeep Nagaraj under the banner of Sandeep Production. The film features Shiva Rajkumar, Jayaram, and Anupam Kher in key roles. The film combines drama with action.
The movie revolves around Dalavayi Muddanna, popularly called "Big Daddy" (Shiva Rajkumar), a nameless gangster who comes up with a cunning plan to hijack a jail. His mission? To get back confiscated gold bars taken from him in a CBI raid. His well-planned strategy is, however, tested by a much stronger adversary in the form of "ACP Chengappa" (Jayaram), an unrelenting cop dead set on derailing his robbery.
Completing the enigma is "Anand Rao", played in dual roles by Shiva Rajkumar, and found to be connected to the events as deep as they seem. "A. N. Rao" (Anupam Kher), the father of Anand, also has an important role in the story contributing to the layers of emotion and suspense in the film.
Based on the same universe as "Birbal Trilogy Case: 1 – Finding Vajramuni", the movie is perceived as a sequel to the series and promoting the legacy that was set by its predecessor. Director "M. G. Srinivas" has rendered wonderful justice to the heist thriller genres.
Released on 19th October 2023, "Ghost" turned out to be a box-office hit, appreciated for its nail-biting scenes, gripping performances, and razor-sharp narrative. The fans were especially intrigued by Shiva Rajkumar's double act and Jayaram's authoritative acting of ACP Chengappa.
The film is also a platform for a promised sequel, "Ghost 2", which is expected to take the criminal underworld and Big Daddy's intentions deeper.
