Il Tha Ka Sai Aa (2024)

“Il Thaka Saiaa” is a 2024 Tamil thriller suspense film directed by Sadha Nadar and Monica Selena. Sadha Nadar, Monica Selena, K. Sudhanthiran, and Marudhu Saravanan play key roles in the film. The movie is about “Ram and Ramya” (Sadha and Monica), young couples who begin their new life in a bungalow that is luxurious. Their bliss does not last long when Ram starts having strange dreams: some of which begin to happen. One night, he has a dream about police taking him into custody for murdering his wife, leaving him scared and confused. In another dream, he imagines Ramya saying she is pregnant: only to find it happens the next day. The more violent Ram's nightmares get, he starts to wonder what's the point with them. Ramya is unnerved by his unpredictable behavior and starts to wonder if there is a really terrible thing wrong with her husband. The movie is a maze half reality and half fantasy as one starts questioning if Ram is going mentally insane or something supernatural is happening. The first half of the movie generates perfect suspense, interacting with the people through unexpected turnabouts. The latter half gets predictable, and the distinction between the dream and real world loses track. The plot, making us curious initially, becomes problematic and makes one puzzled until the final moment. Reality appears imminent, but the movie gets completed unexpectedly, forming even more uncertainty. Faulty as it is, “Il Thaka Saiaa” manages to hold viewers' attention through its compelling plot and psychological intrigue. The off-screen chemistry between Monica and Sadha translates to the screen successfully, and both actors give grounded performances as a consequence. Ram's paranoia and terror is convincingly portrayed by Sadha, while Monica delivers the erotic/feral performance as Matka. With no proper closure and not exactly what I hoped, “Il Thaka Saiaa” is a horrifying, suspenseful experience that just sucks the viewer into it till the credits roll.
