Iraivan

"Iraivan" is a 2023 Tamil psychological action thriller film directed by I. Ahmed and produced by Sudhan Sundaram and G. Jayaram under Passion Studio. The film stars Jayam Ravi, Nayanthara, and Rahul Bose, giving a suspenseful plot with unexpected twists and turns.

The film is all about Chennai, a city traumatized by an insane killer by the name Brahma, known as the "Smiley Killer" (portrayed by Rahul Bose). Public confidence in the police has never been low until two hard-boiled police officers, Arjun (played by Jayam Ravi) and Andrew (played by Narain), arrive on the scene. Arjun, a man with a dark past, goes deep into the case, discovering horrific facts about the murderer. After a tireless chase, Brahma is arrested, but he manages to escape, leaving the city in turmoil once again.

Arjun's private life goes dark when he loses both his boyfriend, Andrew, and his love (Nayanthara). He is consumed by anger and grief, and he descends into a pursuit of revenge. Later on, he goes into a game of wits and will as he battles his own demons in a bid to apprehend the ruthless murderer.

Iraivan is a thriller replete with suspense and emotional depth. The film managed to attract only mixed-to-negative reviews on its day of theatrical release on September 28, 2023. However, of late, it has captured people's imagination because of its dark narrative and intriguing twists and turns. Ironically, it is a box office failure but found its own audience among intense thriller fans in addition to becoming one of the must-watch movies of its genre.
